Garnet - Stone of Passion

small garnet stones

Garnets come in many colours, though deep red is the most familiar. Their name derives from the Latin granatum, meaning “pomegranate,” because of their resemblance to the fruit’s seeds.

Used as protective talismans by travellers, garnets were thought to light up the night and guard against danger. They are often associated with love, passion, and courage — a fiery stone of strength and devotion.

Garnet is the birthstone for January.
